• To make your study plans, Tuki AI sends your study material to an AI company, Groq, through our server. The app asks for your permission first, and sends nothing to Groq until you allow it.
• We do not sell your information, show ads, track you across other apps or websites, or use analytics.
• Your study data is saved to your account so you can sign in on any device. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time in your Profile.
2.1 Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address: the one you enter, or the one Google or Apple provides when you sign in with them. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real one, and that relay address is all we store. If Google or Apple share your name, we store it with your account. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, and are never stored by us in readable form.
2.2 Onboarding answers. When you set up the app you tell us your name, roughly how long you study each day, and which subjects you enjoy and which you find hardest.
2.3 Study data. The classes you create; the names of the files you add and the text Tuki AI reads from them; the study goals you type; the study plans made for you (their chapters, summaries, flashcards and quizzes, and the facts they were built from); your progress and quiz results; the days you studied; and your conversations with the AI teacher. This is saved to your account so it is there when you sign in again or on another device.
2.4 Your photos. Photos you add in the phone app are kept inside the app on your device, and a private backup copy is saved to your account so you can open them again after reinstalling the app, after signing out, or on another device. Only you can open them. Other files (PDF, Word, PowerPoint and text files) are not kept once their text has been read; only the text read from them is saved to your account.
2.5 Your AI choice. Whether you allowed Tuki AI to send your material to its AI provider, and when you answered, are saved to your account, so you are only asked once.
2.6 Messages you send us. If you send feedback from Settings, or tap "Ping developer" when a study plan cannot be built, your message (for "Ping developer", your study goal) is emailed to us with your account ID, so we can reply and look into it.
2.7 Technical information. To prevent abuse, our server counts how many requests each account makes in a ten-minute window. Our hosting and database providers keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times, as part of running their services.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use the app. Tuki AI contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting tools and no tracking.
3.1 Who receives your material. Tuki AI uses Groq, Inc., an AI company in the United States, to read your material and write your study plans. Your material reaches Groq through our own server, hosted by Vercel. No other AI company receives it.
3.2 We ask first. The first time you sign in with an account, Tuki AI explains what is sent and to whom, and asks for your permission with "Allow" and "Not now". Nothing is sent to Groq until you choose "Allow". If you choose "Not now", everything you have already saved keeps working, and the app asks again the next time you add material, build a study plan, ask the AI teacher a question or ask what a word means. Our server also refuses every AI request from an account that has not allowed it, so nothing can be sent without your permission. Your answer is saved to your account, so you are not asked again on another device.
3.3 What is sent, and when. Only what each feature needs, and only when you use it:
• Building a study plan: the text of the material you choose and the study goal you type. While the plan is being made, so that it keeps being built if you leave the app, this text and the work done so far are held in our database, readable only by your account. They are deleted as soon as the finished plan reaches your device or you cancel it, and in any case no later than 7 days after the plan was started.
• Adding a photo: the text in the photo is read on your device. A smaller copy of the photo is then sent to Groq to read its formulas, drawings, arrows, colours and tables. It is not stored by us.
• Adding a PDF: the file is sent to our own server, which extracts its text with our own code and then discards the file without storing it. Word, PowerPoint and plain text files are read entirely on your device.
• Choosing a study goal: short excerpts of your material, to suggest goals.
• The AI teacher: your question, together with the facts from that study plan.
• Word meanings: when you double-tap a word in a chapter, that word, the sentence it is in and the title of the study plan. The explanation is saved on your device so the same word is not sent again.
3.4 How Groq handles it. Groq processes your material to answer each request and returns the result to us. Under Groq's data policy, it does not keep the content of requests by default; it may keep inputs and outputs for up to 30 days only to fix errors that affect its service or to investigate abuse, and any data it keeps is stored in the United States. Groq processes this data under its own terms, which require it to protect the data and use it only to provide its service. We share only what each feature needs, and only with providers whose terms give your data the same or equal protection as this policy.
3.5 Our promise. We do not use your material, your plans or your conversations to train AI models, and we do not sell them or use them for advertising.
3.6 Changing your mind. Once you choose "Allow", the app does not ask again and has no setting to turn it off. If you no longer want your material sent to Groq, you can stop using the AI features, delete your account in your Profile, or email us at carlos1010.peter@gmail.com and we will withdraw your permission on your account.
3.7 Reading aloud. Reading a chapter aloud uses your device's own built-in voices. Nothing is sent anywhere to do it.
We use your information only to provide Tuki AI: to sign you in, to read your material and build your study plans, to answer your questions and explain words, to show your progress, to keep your data in sync so it is there when you sign in again, to schedule the reminders you allow, to reply to messages you send us, and to protect the service from abuse. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build profiles of you.
If you allow notifications in the phone app, Tuki AI schedules study reminders on your device, based on your classes and study plans. They are created and delivered on your device; Tuki AI does not use a push notification server and sends no marketing notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Tuki AI uses your camera or photo library only when you choose to add pictures of your notes. Choosing photos from your library uses the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you pick. Photos you add are kept inside the app on your device so you can view them later, with a private backup copy saved to your account that only you can open. A photo and its backup are deleted when you delete that material or its class, and every backup is deleted with your account. Signing out removes photos from that device; they come back from the backup when you sign in again.
We share information only with the service providers that run Tuki AI, only for that purpose, and only what each needs:
• Supabase: accounts, sign-in and database storage, including your study data and photo backups. Our database is hosted in Singapore.
• Vercel: hosts our server in the United States, which passes your requests to our AI provider and reads PDF files.
• Groq: the AI that reads your material, writes your study plans, answers the AI teacher and explains words, as described in "AI and Your Permission".
• Google (Gmail): delivers the messages you send us from the app to our inbox.
• Apple or Google: only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Text in photos is read on your device: by Apple's Vision framework on iPhone and iPad, and by Google ML Kit on Android. As part of ML Kit, Google may receive metrics about the performance and use of the library; it does not receive your photo.
Each provider handles data under its own terms and privacy policy, which require it to protect your data. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
All communication between the app, our server and our providers is encrypted in transit. In our database, each account can read and change only its own data. Your sign-in session is stored on your device encrypted, with its key kept in your device's secure storage. A copy of your study data is also kept on your device, so the app works quickly and offline.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
We keep your account and study data for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual classes, files and study plans in the app at any time.
Material held while a study plan is being built is deleted when the plan reaches your device or you cancel it, and no later than 7 days after the plan was started. Groq may keep request content for up to 30 days, as described above. Messages you send us stay in our inbox until we delete them.
You can delete your account in Profile > Delete account. This permanently and immediately deletes your account, all of your study data, your backed-up photos and any study plan still being built, and it cannot be undone. Signing out removes your study data and photos from the device you sign out on.
You can see your information in the app, change or delete it, and delete your account at any time as described above. You can withdraw camera, photo and notification permissions in your device settings, and your AI permission as described in "Changing your mind". Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as to request a copy of your information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
Tuki AI is not intended for children under 8, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 8. Children aged 8 to 12, or under the age of digital consent where they live, should use Tuki AI only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who should also make the AI choice described above. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without that permission, contact us and we will delete it.
Your information is stored in Singapore, where our database is hosted, and passes through the United States, where our server is hosted and where Groq processes and, when it keeps any, stores request data. By using Tuki AI, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own.
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be shown by an updated date at the top of this page.
Questions about this Privacy Policy, or requests about your information, can be sent to carlos1010.peter@gmail.com.
